Movimento Infinito

about

Movimento Infinito is the composition which I  was busy with during February, March, April and May of 2003. It my state of mind during the days of the war in Iraq. The wait and the hope before, the dismay, the anger and the pain after, kept the rhythm of my work during those month. In those days, in those hours, often interrupted by  long international radio listening, I had on my desk Four Quartets by T.S.Eliot. Coming back on some pages of the section called East Coker, I could reflect once more in a different way. So I  tried to interpret once again those apocalyptic verses, to give a sense to a nonsense reality; which was the sense of writing this music while another unjustified war was going to begin? Why to continue being artists, musicians, poets? My work would have been justifiable only in the case in which I  would represent this absurd human condition, this extreme and infinite luck of control on what we do, this unjustified conviction in some idea of human progress.T.S.Eliot’s poetry was helping me once again. The infinite and inexorable cycle of the universe evoked in East Coker is made of constructions, destructions and re-constructions realized by Nature and by Mankind as an integral part of it. My composition is a tight line over an arc of eighteen minutes. This duration is divided in four different and consecutive sections: an infinite movement.
